Think Housing: Towards an Inclusive Beirut: Conference, Exhibition and Publication

UN-Habitat, the Order of Engineers and Architects in Beirut and Public Works Studio, under the patronage of the Public Corporation for Housing, conducted yesterday on April 10 2019, the concluding event of the Think Housing Competition entitled  “Think Housing: Towards an Inclusive Beirut: Conference, Exhibition and Publication”/ "فكر إسكان: نحو تطوير نموذج المدينة الدامجة: مؤتمر ومعرض وإطلاق منشور". The event took place at the Order of Engineers and Architects in Beirut.

The Think Housing Competition was launched in July 2018 and adjourned in December 2018 in an effort to advocate for affordable housing and more inclusive cities. Teams of multidisciplinary practitioners and/or students (graduates and undergraduates) were invited to articulate feasible proposals that respond to the imperative of inclusive housing by reacting to one of 5 case studies profiled in Beirut (Lebanon) with an integrated feasible development scheme in line with the competition guidelines. The competition sought to address the affordable housing shortage in Beirut, one of the most expensive cities in the world.
