UNIC Beirut launches website with new improved design!
After several months of hard work and commitment, the UN Information Centre (UNIC) in Beirut officially announced the launch of its new redesigned website, at www.unicbeirut.org. Fresh and exciting, the new improved design offers visitors a more pleasant and informative experience while browsing, allowing them to access news related to the UN in general, the Sustainable Development Goals, and UNIC Beirut activities in a straightforward and clear manner. The design is more consistent with the identity and graphic elements of the UN, as featured on websites such as UN, UN News, UN in Lebanon and ESCWA.

This achievement, which took months of research, coordination, development, reviews and tests, was made possible through tireless efforts of ESCWA Webmaster Rabie Mahshi and UNIC Beirut Public Information Assistant Maryam Sleiman. The website was thus re-vamped at no cost with Drupal 8 module on a responsive layout for all platforms (desktop computers, phones, tablets), and includes a vast array of features that were not available in the old page, including integrated social media buttons for Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Google+, etc. It also features direct links to the UN News, UN Multimedia, UN Stories, and UN Libray websites, among others.

The sections and features of the new website include: What’s New section, Upcoming Events, Vacancies, Featured Videos, UN Secretary-General messages and statements, UN Op-Eds, UNIC Beirut’s Press Releases, Published Articles, UN in the Media, and Links. In the drop-down menu bar, there is a brief about UNIC Beirut, staff, resources, an information portal and other useful links.

After two weeks of going live and prior to announcing the launch, UNIC Beirut was able to detect an increase in traffic by 30% during the testing period. The average of session duration is now 4 minutes while it never crossed 1 minute on the old website.

Please check out our new website and don’t forget to spread the word!
