UN Lebanon

There are twenty five different UN agencies based in Lebanon covering mandates that range from peace keeping to refugee protection and trying to implement the UN spirit of assisting, sustaining and strengthening the host country, Lebanon.

The United Nations system in Lebanon joins forces to provide a tailor-made accurate and beneficial response to Lebanon’s development and humanitarian challenges. Each UN agency although fully capable in its field of activities cannot single handedly tackle the multi-dimensional challenges of development. Joining efforts, the UN System provides tangible solutions, support and assistance that are vitally and uniquely provided by each agency. Thus, UN coordination as a UN System provides a strengthened and a much increased impact for the Lebanese nation.

The guiding framework under which the UNCT operates in Lebanon is the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF).

The UN system in Lebanon is continuously developing programs and operations in collaboration with the Government and partners, while taking into account the uniqueness of the Lebanese situation. The repercussions the Syrian crisis has had on Lebanon, ultimately led to the creation of the LEBANON CRISIS RESPONSE PLAN (LCRP) which spans over the years of 2015-2016, and which is geared to raise USD 2.1 billion for the vulnerable communities. The LCRP implementation means a more stable Lebanon and a peaceful coexistence between the Lebanese host and vulnerable communities. To learn about the results of the revision please read the report.
